An essential component of EYMs’ programs. The holistic component of EYM is supportive, encouraging, and motivates students to be the best they can be regardless of income, gender, ethnicity, or religious affiliation. With mentors from businesses, corporations, and the community, EYM students learn to process problems, cope with crises, define goals, and develop realistic action plans. Documented sessions, progress notes, and recommendations are shared with parents. EYM and collaborative partners deliver intervention using a social learning approach. With social learning theory and research documents, we have learned that maladaptive behavior patterns represent socially learned behaviors. We must address this learned behavior if our targeted students are to grow, learn to compete, succeed, accomplish important tasks, and feel accepted and valued by others (on-site or online).
