College Scholarship and Laptop Program is now in
its 19th year, Educating Young Minds is
proud of its
Four Year College Scholarship Program. We continue to support our
graduates with college scholarships, ranging from
$6,000-$12,000 per student.. Presently
we are supporting or have supported students attending
schools such as Stanford University, UC Davis, UC Los
Angeles, University of Pittsburgh, UC Berkeley, Cal Sate
Northridge, USC, Loyola Marymount, Lane College, Cal State
Bakersfield, Syracuse, Cal Tech, Savannah College of Arts
and Design, Florida A & M, Xavier, Howard, Clark
Atlanta University, University of Syracuse, University of
Illinois, and many others.
EYM would like to give a special recognition to The Rick Perkins Band and Arlene Kennedy and The Kennedy Tap Dancers who have entertained and supported EYM for many years.

College Scholarship Gala June 19th 1999 - Hyatt Regency
Hotel, Los Angeles 
In June of 1999, State Farm Insurance sponsored EYM's
first annual scholarship awards gala. Supporting sponsors
included ACT I, American Express, Maverick Records, Pepsi
Cola Company, Mattel, AT&T and many others. EYM
honorees included Debbie Allen, Police Chief Bernard
Parks, and C.Z. Wilson PH.D. Among the graduating
high-school seniors, all but one has graduated from 4-year
institutions. One graduate, an EYM student since the 5 th
grade, now attends Law school at Northwestern in Illinois
where she received a complete scholarship for both Law
School and a PHD Program in African American Women's
Studies.
2 nd ANNUAL COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
College Scholarship Gala June 17th 2000 - Hyatt Regency Hotel, Los Angeles
In June of 2000, Act I sponsored the second annual
scholarship awards gala. The Gala provided college
scholarships for EYM students entering Berkeley ,
Stanford, Xavier, Howard, the University of Florida ,
UCLA, USC, the University of Michigan and many others!
The dinner chair and co-chair were Tina Treadwell and Olive McQueen. Janice Bryant-Howyroyd received the Humanitarian Award, Linda Hopkins received the Endeavor Award and Magic Johnson received the Public Service Award.

College Scholarship Gala June 24th 2001 - The New Otani Hotel
In June of 2001, Chela Financial and The Magic
Johnson Foundation sponsored the third annual scholarship
awards gala. The Gala supported EYM students attending
U.C. Davis, Cal State L.A. , Clark University , Loyola
Marymount, Dillard University , Berkeley School of Music,
UC Berkeley and many others.
Larry Carroll and Kathleen Bradley were the
evening co-hosts. Tina Treadwell of Treadwell
Entertainment and Kawanna Myers Brown, President of the
Magic Johnson Corporation were dinner co-chairs. Kenneth
W. Bentley received the Endeavor Award, Ralph Farquhar
received the Visionary Award, Akosua Hobert received the
Humanitarian Award, Leon Garr received the Community
Service Award and Diane Watson received the Public Service

gala. A special salute was given to the late Mr. Paul
Kennedy ìThe Master of Danceî EYM's 2002 Honoree, for more
than 20 years of Humanitarian Service, Public Dedication
and Youth Inspiration. Ehrich Van Lowe and Tina Treadwell
were this year's co-chairpersons. Larry Carroll and Roz
Ryan were the evening's co-hosts.

College Scholarship Gala June 25th, 2006 was held at the Westin Hotel-Lax
This gala was full of surprises and entertainment as well as awards. EYM producer Oscar Hernandez and her illustrious team created a spectacular star-studded evening.
Collaborative efforts among entertainers, educators, politicians, sponsors, and the community-at-large proved to be more than worthwhile. More than $250,000 was raised to support EYM collegeñbound students at this year's gala.
Latoya London from American Idol, Bobby Valentino, Kyle Massey from That's So Raven, Christopher Massey from Joey 101, Gospel Artists Mary Mary, Malcolm David Kelley from Lost and the movie Antoine Fisher, Kenya Moore Ms. USA, Davetta Sherwood from the Daytime drama Young and the Restless and many others provided the evenings entertainment.

College Scholarship Gala June 22nd, 2008 was held at the Marriott Hotel-LAX
EYM's honoree for this year's gala was the UCLA Black
Alumni Association. Honorary chairpersons Bill Duke and
David Marshall helped set a fundraising record for our
college scholarship program. Over 600 people in attendance
spent an evening celebrating the achievements of this
year's class.
